SR Network / VOIP engineer

5 years of experience as an IP Network Engineer with emphasis on architecture, low latency design, and implementation. Must possess strong knowledge of:

  • Layer 2 and 3 internetworking technologies, such as policy-based routing, MPLS and BGP
  • In-depth understanding of network security and access control
  • In-depth understanding of packet analysis tools and proficient at debugging TCP/IP issues
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and research problems of a complex nature, make judgment decisions and recommendations as to their solution
  • Prior experience with VoIP protocols (SIP, SCCP, RTP/RTCP) highly desired
  • Prior experience in a service provider environment highly desired

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent work experience
  • Cisco CCNP certification is a plus
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills is a must
  • In-depth understanding of packet analysis tools and proficient at debugging TCP/IP issues

As a Senior Network/VoIP Engineer, you will help design and build core voice and data infrastructure. You will help extend the capabilities of our current network to accommodate our future growth. You will qualify and implement new equipment from our vendors, and recommend solutions to issues that arise. You should be a creative thinker yet a disciplined engineer, relying on both experience and intuition to make good decisions and qualified judgments. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to PRESCIENT’s growth and facilitate the emergence of our cloud-based solution as a leader in its industry.


  • Design and configure TCP/IP and VoIP networks
  • Troubleshoot network and telco problems
  • Configure and troubleshoot VoIP gateways, Session Border Controllers, and other VoIP processing equipment
  • Perform and analyze packet captures of network traffic
  • Perform interoperability testing with VoIP vendors
  • Qualify and evaluate network and VoIP equipment
  • Work with the business side to understand their objectives and account for them in the system design
  • Work with the software and systems engineering teams to understand and implement technical requirements
  • Configure DHCP, access-lists, and VLANs
  • Perform IOS upgrades
  • Configure OSPF and BGP protocols


  • Five or more years hands-on networking experience
  • Robust, large-scale network design experience
  • Expertise with Cisco router & switch administration
  • Detailed understanding of subnetting and network segmenting
  • Detailed knowledge of VoIP and SIP messaging
  • Desire to both design and implement superior network solutions
  • Hands-on network troubleshooting experience; packet capture and inspection
  • Strong knowledge of OSPF and BGP protocols required
  • Knowledge of IPsec tunnel configuration required
  • Telco circuit knowledge & troubleshooting skills
  • MPLS configuration experience a plus
  • Strong communication and documentation skills are essential
  • Enthusiasm and ability to develop technical skills and take on additional responsibilities in order to add value to departmental and AEON goals
  • BS in Technical or Engineering field (or equivalent) required
  • CCNP certification required. CCIE certification a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Generate business by scheduling and delivering AEON presentations.
  • Use a consultative selling approach; increase customer’s awareness of choice as well as competitive advantage over other telecom providers; provide prospective customer with cost analysis and effectively close the sale.
  • Assure quality and accurate representation of products; represent the company professionally and ensure that potential customers have an exceptional experience.

Minimum Education, Experience and Requirements
